I first became attracted to complementary therapies in 2006 when I contracted a mystery virus; I lost my sense of balance, suffered severe headaches and was generally very weak. The doctors didn’t know what to do and after three months of barely leaving the house a friend recommended trying reflexology. That one session changed my life! Not only was I able to walk for the first time in months and feel relatively ‘normal’ I discovered a passion for complementary therapies. I did have a few relapses and it was a further six months before I was fighting fit but I believe my regular reflexology sessions gave me the energy to return to a normal life. I’m a firm believer in turning the negatives into our lives into positives and so truly believe my being ill was a way of me discovering my true vocation – hence the name ‘Silver Lining Therapies!’ I therefore enrolled on a course at my local college and began training whilst continuing with my recovery and haven’t looked back since.
I’ve continued my studies and am qualified in several disciplines, mainly different forms of massage. My love of the East has led me to specialise in Thai massage and I feel privileged to have trained in Thai Yoga massage at the prestigious and renowned ITM school in Chaing Mai, Northern Thailand. I am also able to offer Thai foot massage and having experienced several whilst in Thailand I can confirm my techniques are definitely authentic!
Since qualifying I have worked in a variety of settings including renting treatment rooms, mobile and in luxury spas as well as various different events including festivals. I also currently provide treatments at a centre in Liverpool for women with mild mental health problems where I have worked since 2008. I therefore have an interest and experience of working with women’s health issues and also mental health.
